It was only in the spring of 2005 that I gained access to the upper floors of the Pioneer Hotel for the photographs displayed below. On Sunday the 17th of July, 2005, the Pioneer was destroyed by fire.

It is always a sense
of loss when one of my places is lost. MY PLACES are borrowed places
for photography: borrowed from the present owners; borrowed from the
past. I had been hoping to do a show of Globe photos in the
Java Junction in August or September. I had hoped to do may
more photos in the Pioneer Hotel.
